I did what I could with the time I had, I'm not satisfied with the lack of embroidery, I wanted to do more, put multicolored gems even...but I didn't have enough time...plus I wasn't able to extend her shoulder on the side of the neck so it doesn't look too long, the GMT deadline was chasing me. God willingly for Exotique 4 which is in june, i'll really put more into my entry with a longer time table. I had a difficult time when I began painting only using basic brush tips in Photoshop, I must create custom brushes. I was super unhappy that when I painted umiba yung itsura nung girl...but indeed, next time I promise myself I'll do better. I wanted to fix a MILLION other things about this painting but I had to stop. With Jeff's help and God's I am able to present to you Regina, my first official digital painting entry. Please pray that I get into D' Artiste, if I do, this gets published in a book. To be shortlisted at the very least would be great, but that's not enough, we want everything, don't we?

--This is my debut as a digital painter. I entitled my first artwork "Regina" which means "queen", the 3rd part of my entire first name. I used a motif inspired by the combination of royal fashion and the celebrated elegance of the Filipina "terno", a formal gown often well-remembered for its unique butterfly sleeves and charming embroidery. Regina conveys the purity and strength of a Filipina maiden who is certain of how much she is worth.--

And he made it! Both of Jeff's entries submitted to Ballistic Publishing for Expose 6 http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/ made it to the final selection :)  His entries were the two female characters he did that I posted.  Golden Bee (steam punk lady) made it to an entire full page and the gatekeeper woman Esprilandrhu made it to a quarter page.  Congrats Jeff!  If I save enough to buy Expose 6 you'd better sign it ha, :P  But yey I'm getting Expose 5 for my Birthday :D  Angat Pinoy!!!

Here's a little peek at something i'm working on with my friend who contributes to Ballistic http://www.ballisticpublishing.com :)  I've decided that my leisure time alongside motion graphics for commercials should go to the gift God has blessed me with, the ability to create with my hands.  I was unsure and afraid of making mistakes, he said "brush first without thinking...no control alt Z, stop that!" hahaha...  You can check out his work in Exotique 3 and Imagine FX, his name is Jeff de Guzman, a former gourmet chef from the UK turned digital painter extraordinare.

Sketched from a photo reference of me done with Photoshop and a wacom tablet, still a work in progress...something he is pushing me to complete and submit for a little something secret :) I was supposed to go home early...I got stuck :) This is why I love where I work.  God is lovin me all the way...

I found a really cool digital painting tutorial on Deviant while at work and well, managed to stop drooling over what the guy had done in concept art for King Kong and said to myself "do not covet". Hahaha! A very rare moment. Decided to save what I'd finished yesterday in steps so you guys could see. A quick really rough paint job, you can see in the dog's ears I just took an hour or 2 to sit down and apply the tutorial coz I need the practice for my job. Will do more for sure and refine pa. I LOVE WHERE I'M AT! Seeing the guys here just encourages me to push and push at what I can do. I wrote descriptions for each picture apart from the caption to record my steps.
